The largest metropolitan area in Israel's northern region, the city of Haifa is located on the slopes of Mount Carmel directly above the country's Mediterranean coastline. Haifa is also a city of sciences. It is the home of the Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology. This world-famous institute trains tomorrow's scientists, researchers, engineers, teachers, architects and physicians in its 18 faculties. The number of publications and patents held by scientists at the Technion,is legendary. Other prestigious R&D institutes such as Rafael and the Oceanography and Limnology Institute and are also located in Haifa
